History

Dayuan Township was called "Da Ciou Yuan." Dayuan Township is located along the coast line, and people make living by fishing and farming. Ancient poetry said "fisherman gathers from many households and villages, small boat floats and makes water flow, it is rare to see fish gathering on deep sand, catch fish to trade drinks" and "Broad horizons is seen as you ride on the boat, overlook the unrestrained ocean, three thousand loose water without knowing where it is, rare bird settled on you" describe the busy life at that time. People started moving out of the town when the fishing business turned bad due to the stagnant sand in the ocean and population was decreased.

The population has increased in the recent years because of the Taoyuan International Airport, Ching Kai-shek flight and science museum, Chinese Petroleum Corporation Shalyun petroleum transport station, Dayuan industrial park, and Jhuwei fishing port public facilities. The township is now divided into eighteen villages and four hundreds and fourteen neighborhood, (Yuanjian village is now combined with Dahai village after the administration area adjustment on February 1, 2006). We hope to work towards the goal of becoming the flight city in Asia in the 21st century.

Geographic Location

Dayuan Township is located at north end of Taoyuan County besides Taiwan Strait. Dayuan Township connects East with Luzhu Township, South with Jhongli Township, and West with Guanyin Township. The land slopes from Southwest towards Northeast with an average altitude of 35 meters. There is sandy coast alongside Northwest end of the land, and the rest are mostly plain, farm fields or widen leveled ground. Due to the lack of mountain as a natural barrier, wind from Northeast blows straight into the township which leads to lower temperature during the winter.

Goal of Service

Household registration is the root of civic affairs; government administration is closely related to people's daily life. The communication between government and people is very frequent and matters to people heavily. We are here to fulfill people's high expectation to the government and follow the pointer of "extensive increase of service quality plan" by Executive Yuan to plan actively on the simplified and convenience services in order to improve administrative efficiency and service quality.
